We’re hugely proud of our very own Lee Mears for becoming a world record holder for the highest ever game of touch rugby at 5,119m on Everest.
At the end of April 2019 Lee took a break from coaching executives to travel to Everest along with fellow ex-rugby internationals and challengers. In Lee’s own words, ‘it was one of my more brutal experiences, mentally and physically.’
It was all in aid for Wooden Spoon – a charity that seeks to ‘positively transform the lives of children and young people with a disability or facing disadvantage across the UK and Ireland through the power of rugby’. At time of writing the Everest team have raised an incredible £250,000.
Please still do donate and take a look at the wonderful work that Wooden Spoon do by visiting their page https://woodenspoon.org.uk/.
